Grid-connected System

This is a system that avoids using batteries. Avoiding batteries saves money. The way it works is that when the turbine is producing electricity the household can use this electricity immediately. This reduces electricity bills. If the turbine is producing more electricity than is required by the household at that moment any unwanted excess electricity is exported onto the grid. When the turbine is not producing enough electricity to satisfy the household any electricity needed is taken from the grid.

In the UK, it is possible to sell your excess wind energy back onto the grid and get paid for every kWh unit sold. However, in Ireland you do not get paid for exporting your excess wind power back onto the grid. This may change in the near future.
